The Four Seasons

Writer's picture: Sharon PriganSharon Prigan

I am working on the final pieces for the Wave Landscape Patchwork exhibition and decided to do a set of the 4 seasons. Four individual pieces, and then a friend of mine, Carol Jensen, suggested a single piece of the four seasons, a progression of one season to the next.

I adopted that idea but I had already begun doing the individual pieces so I decided to go with both ideas.

Today I worked on the Autumn piece.

For these four pieces I am as usual, taking the colors from my scrap box. I have sorted the scrap box into 4 separate bowls by seasons. What I am doing is pulling pieces out randomly, no cheating and no color placing either, I want to be surprised by the results.

I debated what color thread to use for the top stitching and then remembered that I had purchased 2 spools of some fuschia colored sewing thread, at a charity store, just in time for this project.

I am very happy with how the random piece turned out. Autumn is done.
