I had a hard time starting this project. I jus don't connect with yellow. The challenge was to create a sunflower from upcycled and recycled materials. I didn't have a problem with that, but every time I thought of a sunflower I saw yellow.
It was a challenge, so I decided to attack the project differently. Not from a color point of view, rather, I decided to envision the atmosphere and asked myself what I thought of when seeing a field of sunflowers.
Well first of all Van Gogh's sunflower, that didn't do it for me. I continued to think and asked myself what I would tell my students to do. What do sunflowers make me think of.
And then I got it. Warmth, country, cottage, orange, deep orange, rust, olive green, browns - a country field with rust green orange brown flowers. Yes, these sunflowers I could see.
I created some petals, attached them to a fabric base
Made a few flowers
And here is my version of a country sunflower field.
Very interesting way to approach the sunflower project, Sharon.🌻
